Frequently Asked Questions.

About Our Products

Where does your product come from?

All our flooring is sourced from second-growth timber from the interior of British Columbia. We don't sell first-growth or coastal wood.

And what about the mills?

We exclusively deal with BC Sawmills that are committed to sustainable forest management practices, as outlined by the Government of Canada's regulatory regime. Read more about those practices here.

I'm need a product that's not listed on your product page. Do you carry [whatever]?

In order to offer our customers the lowest price possible, we only offer a limited range of products (that way, we don't need to pay for a huge warehouse). But we have a lot of connections within the industry—if there's something you're looking for, chances are we know where you might be able to find it. Drop us a line and we'll help if we can.

Using Our Products

What's the moisture content of the flooring?

All flooring is kiln dried and heat treated to a target moisture of 8-10%, this will however adjust to the climate at the install location.

How long should I acclimate the flooring?

Best practice is to leave it in the house in which it will be installed for a minimum 1-2 weeks (no, the garage doesn't count - it really should be indoors where you'll be using it). This process allows the wood to adjust to the natural humidity of your home.

What kind of finish do you recommend?

Hard question. Finishing really depends on personal taste and design aesthetic. Strictly from a practical point of view, our flooring works well with any good quality oil-based polyurethane or waterborne finish. The flooring can also be stained prior to finishing.

From a "look" perspective, we really like some of the natural penetrating oils that our customers have used — you can see these projects on the various products pages. t really enhances the natural beauty and patina that's such a big part of authentic wood flooring.

Ordering / Payment

What's the minimum/maximum order?

We do our best to accommodate any size of order. We've done orders from as little as 100 square feet, but these were local, "pick it up at our warehouse" orders. If you're looking for delivery, our minimum is 500 square feet.

As for maximum, sky's the limit—we regularly do orders of more than 10,000 square feet for professional flooring contractors and developers. Let us know what you're thinking.

I don't see an "Order Now" button... how do I order?

Please contact us directly for a quote. Once you let us know the details of what you're looking for (type of product, quanitity, delivery location, etc.), we can provide you with a total cost, and we can finalize your order, including payment.
